The Minimalist Series is a group of six digital works inspired by various concepts related to limits and constraints. The works are based on Minimalism, Ma, Imagism, Wabi-sabi, Microcinema and Microgames. These concepts have had wide reach and influence many cultures around the world. Some are thought to have originated thousands of years ago, and others more recently. They come from a diverse range of disciplines – philosophy, literature, traditional media, and digital media. Over the span of three months, I have taken learnings from these concepts to develop a series of 2D and 3D works, culminating in a showcase that demonstrates how these limits and constraints have influenced my practice in interactive design.
Fountain is a digital environment interpretation of an imagism poem.
Cinema Four is a 3D interactive project inspired by microcinema.
Cue The Minimal is a 3D interactive project inspired by Minimalism, a short-lived art movement from the Modern era.
Notes is a 2D micrograme developed as part of a minimalist interactive series.
Seasons is a 2D interactive project inspired by Wabi-sabi, an ancient Japanese aesthetic concept.
Breathe is a 2D interactive project based on Ma, a traditional Japanese concept about the meaning and shape of empty space, or the interval between two things.
